PRESS RELEASE
23rd February, 2026.

The attention of the Akure North Local Government has been drawn to a video currently circulating online in which a lady alleges that the Executive Chairman, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude, ordered the assault of her brother and personally confiscated his mobile phone. We wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, unfounded, and malicious. Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude is a peace-loving and law-abiding leader who has consistently upheld the principles of justice, civility, and responsible leadership across the twelve wards of Akure North Local Government. At no time has he authorized, encouraged, or participated in any act of violence or intimidation against any individual.

For the record, during the most recent congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Chairman played a stabilizing role to ensure peaceful conduct among members and to prevent any breakdown of law and order within the Local Government Area. While minor disagreements may arise in political gatherings, such matters are typically resolved internally and amicably among concerned parties. It is therefore misleading and irresponsible to attribute any alleged incident to the Chairman without credible evidence or official reports from relevant security agencies.

We strongly condemn the circulation of defamatory content aimed at tarnishing the image and reputation of Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude. If the alleged incident had truly occurred as presented, the appropriate step would have been to report it to law enforcement authorities, yet there is no official record substantiating these claims. We urge the general public to disregard the video and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary tension. The administration remains firmly committed to peace, transparency, and the continued development of Akure North Local Government.

*Signed:*
Media Office,
Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude
Chairman, Akure North Local Government.
